Push (2009)

Despite a neat resolution, ideas and concepts are squandered (not to mention the fact that the resolution hardly deserved the journey). Push seems intent on offering a distinguished take on what is essentially B-movie fodder and as a consequence, becomes borderline pretentious. Fanning’s performance suggests that perhaps her best work is behind her, and Belle continues to prove that she has all the acting range of a grapefruit…

The Verdict (1982)

Drama doesn’t get much better than The Verdict, a film that should have seen Newman score his first Oscar. Blindness (2008)

In an unnamed city, people are going blind. There is no explanation for it, but it seems to be contagious. Fearing an epidemic, the authorities send the afflicted into makeshift quarantine, among them a doctor (Ruffalo) and his wife (Moore), the latter unaffected by the mysterious disease (or whatever it may be). Soon, the blind are left to fend for themselves, and as their numbers grow, hygiene deteriorates and power struggles ensue…
