A PRAYER FOR THE DYING FORMATS, & those who shall covet them…

File sharing you ask? Yep, us 80s kids invented that. We kept tape-manufacturers Casio and TDK in business twenty-five years ago. We also kept biro makers Bic and Artline and Kilometrico out of the red too, by adorning our mix-tapes with arty scrawl that personalised the journey for ourselves and our friends as we swapped them back and forth in the schoolyard. I still have boxes of tapes that I made (and from friends) that lie scratched and dusty and tired, due to their high-rotational history…

For a young boy who had immersed himself in classic tales of adventure and courage such as Treasure Island and Robinson Crusoe, and delved, somewhat ignorantly, into my parents’ collection of adult novels by authors such as Clive Cussler and Wilbur Smith, Raiders Of The Lost Ark was nothing less than the visualisation of tales wrought in my own imagination…
