  4. Dawn of the Dead is obviously a better Zombie movie, in the same vein Shaun of the Dead is a better comedy movie.

Out of curiosity why was Dawn of the Dead selected, out of Romero’s fine catalogue of zombie flicks?

  7. George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead is still my top pick in the case of a zombie themed movie. I just love how he was able to incorporate society breaking down in the case of an apocalyptic event.

  8. Hey all…thanks for taking part in the giveaway. If I’m gonna lend my voice, I’ll cry out Dawn Of The Dead.

@Dave – you’re right, the two films are chalk and cheese in a way…and why did we select Dawn over Night or Day or Land or Diary or Survival? Well, it’s simple – the last two suck, Day was better than Land, but Dawn was better than Night and all the others combined.
    (In our most humble opinion…)

  12. I am going to have to agree that since Shaun of the Dead was a more humorous take on the great Romero zombie films, Dawn of the Dead takes the cake. That being said, Shaun of the Dead F’n rules!

  24. Wright/Pegg’s Shaun of the Dead?

    Posted by April R. | October 9, 2010, 2:06 pm
  25. Though Shaun of the Dead is hilarious, you have to give it to Dawn of the Dead. This genre wouldn’t be half of what it is without that movie.

  26. Shaun is hilarious and a near perfect comedy IMO.

  30. Love both but Shaun of the Dead gets my vote for gory and funny! Good slapstick with lots of blood. Best of both worlds :)

  32. Shaun of the Dead hands down

Posted by Diane Erlich | October 12, 2010, 7:25 pm
  33. This question is kind of like asking, would you prefer to breathe, or be alive? Difficult choice, but have to give it to Shaun of the Dead, there are very few movies that poke fun at the genre in such a genuine way without being super cheesy.
